#NairaLife: She’s 27, Unemployed and Living on Hope

Since 2022, the 27-year-old subject of this #NairaLife has been navigating a rollercoaster of low-paying 9-to-5s and financial instability. Now, she’s at an absolute zero after being recently forced back into unemployment.
But she’s not very worried about her financial situation. The reason behind her confidence? Hope for better days.
This is her #NairaLife

There is a window of time between seeing a massive opportunity and watching it pass you by. Usually, it’s not because you weren't ready. It’s just that the timing didn't cooperate with your cash flow.
But life moves too fast to wait for perfect alignment.
Carbon gives you up to ₦2 million instantly, with no paperwork parades or long talk. Because the only thing worse than a missed opportunity is knowing you had the play right, but let money get in the way.

I was once a 400 level pharmacy student until I dropped out due to financial issues. Despite the situation, I took another JAMB to seek admission in another university ,but the issue is that my parents are still in a money crisis. I want to little advice on online businesses that I could do with a capital not more than ₦50,000 or if I could get a furniture work — I have skill in furniture making - Falcon, 22
Hi Falcon,
Firstly, I have to acknowledge your resilience. Dropping out of 400lvl and turning around to sit JAMB again takes real strength. Please don't underestimate that.
Now, to your question. You already have your answer: furniture making. Don't overlook it in search of something else. It's a real, sellable skill and with ₦50,000 or less, it's where you should start.
Begin small and smart. Start with stools, floating shelves, bedside tables, these are items that require minimal materials but are genuinely useful and visually appealing. Be creative with them, add your own touch, make them things people want to show off in their homes. Then document everything. Post your process and finished pieces on WhatsApp status, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, show people not just what you made, but what it does for a space. As orders come in and capital grows, you scale up to bigger pieces.
Harness your contacts too. Ask friends and classmates to share your work. Tell everyone you make beautiful, functional furniture. Let word of mouth sell for you.
Your social media presence is your shopfront. It costs nothing but consistency. Start there, build your portfolio, and let the work speak. Bigger opportunities always follow visible results.
I can’t wait to see all the beautiful pieces you make! I’m really rooting for you!
Xoxo, Mo
