Good Morning, 🌞
For years, most money conversations in Nigeria have focused on one thing: how to make more money. And to be fair, many Nigerians are already doing exactly that.
People are working harder than ever and chasing opportunities wherever they can find them. Yet many still don’t feel financially secure.
Wealth is bigger than income.
It’s not just about earning money. It’s about keeping money. Building stability. Growing assets. Thinking long-term. Creating something sustainable. That’s the thinking behind the Naira Life Conference theme: #AllAboutWealth
The economy is hard, and this conference acknowledges that. But we’re also interested in agency. Regardless of the economy, how do people actually move forward financially? What systems, decisions, habits, opportunities, and frameworks help people build momentum over time? This year's programming is built around four wealth pillars: Making it. Keeping it. Growing it. Passing it on.
We expect our attendees to be weaving through at least one of these stages, and we want to help them move forward. So, on 22 August, 2026 at the Jewel Aeida, Lagos, we are bringing together the country’s sharpest finance experts, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and audacious thinkers for a full day of honest, practical insights.
- Hear real-life stories: Learn directly from industry leaders like Seye Bandele (CEO, PaidHR), Lucky Djebah (Executive Director, Investment - Rank Capital), Fiyin Toyo (Marketing Director - Central, East & West Africa, Beiersdorf), Yanmo Omorogbe (Co-founder, Bamboo), and more, who have successfully navigated the exact paths you are trying to build.

Hi. I currently invest about ₦50,000 monthly in a Money Market Mutual Fund which returns 20% annually. However, I am worried because I have heard from some camps that mutual funds shouldn't be used as long-term instruments. My plan is to keep subscribing to this mutual fund even in the next 50 years. Please, what are your thoughts on using MMMF as long-term investment? - Rico, 27
Hi Rico. Great job that you’re investing! I love that you’re consistent about it. This is such a great question, too. Thank you.
Many people confuse “safe” investments with “wealth-building” investments. Money Market Mutual Funds are great for stability, liquidity, and preserving your money, especially for emergency funds and medium-term goals. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with investing consistently in them long term.
However, for a 50-year wealth-building plan, I wouldn’t advise relying solely on a money market fund. Over time, inflation and lower future interest rates can reduce the growth potential of your MMMF. So, a better approach for your 50-year plan is adding growth-focused investments, such as stocks, equity funds and dollar investments, alongside your MMMF.
Your consistency is already a big win. Diversification is just the next step.
Xoxo, Mo
